Fiji’s Police Force recently reported the successful execution of two significant raids by the Western Division Serious Organised Crime Intelligence Department (SOCID) in the Malua range of Navosa, resulting in the confiscation of over 2,700 suspected marijuana plants.
The operation was initiated following credible information regarding illicit marijuana cultivation in the area. Officers navigated challenging terrain to reach the farms, where they worked through the night to carry out their mission. At one location, law enforcement discovered more than 1,800 plants, while another farm yielded over 900 plants, with heights varying from 10 centimeters to 2.5 meters.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, highlighted the importance of these seizures in disrupting drug supply chains and reiterated their commitment to targeting individuals involved in both cultivation and distribution of cannabis. He praised the collaborative effort and the valuable information that led to these successful raids, which add to the growing number of recent arrests linked to drug-related offenses.
The Fiji Police’s proactive approach reflects a strong commitment to maintaining safety and combating drug-related crime in the region. Consistent cooperation from the community can contribute to more successful interventions and a healthier environment for residents.
In summary, this operation underscores ongoing efforts by authorities in Fiji to tackle drug cultivation and distribution, with a focus on maintaining public safety through community involvement and intelligence sharing.
