More than 200 rolls of aluminum foil filled with dried leaves and approximately 1,000 small branches suspected to be marijuana were confiscated in Tacirua, near Suva, yesterday afternoon.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, reported that the seizure resulted from a coordinated raid conducted by the Fiji Police Force. This operation involved personnel from the Southern Division’s Serious and Organized Crime and Intelligence Department (SOCID), the Fiji Detector Dog Unit (FDDU), and the Police Dog Unit.

The authorities targeted the residence of a 57-year-old man, where they found the illegal items prepared for sale. ACP Driu expressed gratitude for the collaboration between the community and the police.

“The raid showcases the ongoing support from community members in partnering with the Fiji Police Force and sharing vital information,” he stated. “We commend everyone who continues to aid our policing efforts in the fight against drugs.”
