More than 200 rolls of aluminum foil filled with dried leaves, along with a thousand small branches suspected to be marijuana, were confiscated in Tacirua, close to Suva, yesterday afternoon.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, reported that the seizure was the result of a collaborative raid involving the Fiji Police Force’s Southern Division’s Serious and Organised Crime and Intelligence Department (SOCID), the Fiji Detector Dog Unit (FDDU), and the Police Dog Unit.
The raid targeted the home of a 57-year-old man, where the illegal substances were found prepared for sale. ACP Driu expressed gratitude for the partnership between the community and the police.
“The raid reflects the continued support shown by members of the community in working with the Fiji Police Force, in the sharing of information,” he stated.
“We appreciate everyone who continues to support policing efforts in the war on drugs.”
