Lautoka High Court Judge, Justice Aruna Aluthge, has granted permission for the state to proceed with the destruction of 4.5 tonnes of methamphetamine that was seized from ten suspects in a significant drug bust conducted in Legalega, Nadi, between November 2023 and January this year.

The police will oversee the incineration process, ensuring that it is carried out safely and responsibly. A detailed report on the destruction of the drugs is expected to be presented in court within two weeks following the incineration.

The individuals facing charges in this case include Justin Ho, David Heritage, Louie Logaivau, Ratu Aporosa Davelevu, Sakiusa Tuva, Jale Aukerea, Ratu Osea Levula, Cathy Tuirabe, Viliame Colowaliku, and Keanie McPherson.

This decisive action by the court highlights the ongoing efforts by authorities to combat drug trafficking and maintain public safety. The destruction of such a large quantity of illicit drugs can be seen as a positive step toward reducing the availability of harmful substances in the community and sending a strong message against drug-related crime. It underscores the importance of continued vigilance and accountability in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking.
