In a significant operation, authorities discovered over 2,000 marijuana plants in the remote Malua Range within the Nasikawa district of Navosa on Monday. This raid is part of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat the cultivation of illegal drugs, including marijuana and harder substances.

Officers from the Western Division Serious Organised Crime Intelligence Department (SOCID) conducted two raids in the area after receiving intelligence about illicit marijuana farms. The challenging terrain required the officers to spend a night in the highlands to strategically execute their operation. During the raids, they uprooted more than 1,800 plants at one site and over 900 at another, with the plants varying in size from 10 centimeters to 2.5 meters.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu underscored the importance of these actions, stating that the operation plays a vital role in interrupting the local drug supply chain. He noted that recent initiatives are aimed at dismantling networks involved in the cultivation and distribution of illegal drugs and expressed appreciation for public collaboration in providing valuable information that contributed to these findings and multiple arrests.

ACP Driu also encouraged community members to come forward with any information they might have, assuring them that tips would remain confidential. He provided various contact numbers, including those for Crime Stoppers and SOCID, urging citizens to report suspicious activities to help in the fight against drug-related crimes.

This proactive approach not only targets illegal drug cultivation but also invites community participation, fostering a collective effort to ensure a safer environment.

In summary, this operation highlights the dedication of law enforcement in tackling drug-related issues, showcasing a collaborative approach between the police and the public. The ongoing focus on dismantling drug networks offers hope for a future with reduced drug-related crimes and enhanced community well-being.
