Nadi-based Mahajibhai Hardware has announced its support for the local district football team ahead of the FMF Inter-District Championship 2024. The company presented a cheque for $7,500 during a ceremony in Martintar, Nadi, where director Sudhish Patel expressed that this is their inaugural support for the district team.
Patel highlighted the dedication of the players, stating, “I want to support Nadi Football and its community especially since the boys were working hard and have improved their results.” He also conveyed wishes for the team’s success, hoping they return with the championship trophy.
Nadi Football Association president Mohin Rafiq praised the sponsorship, calling it a boon for the Nadi football community, especially amid challenging times for businesses. He noted that the team would henceforth be known as Mahajibhai Hardware/Calgary Nadi, as they have secured two major sponsors.
Rafiq expressed gratitude towards head coach Raj Dayal and the support from members across Calgary and globally, as they prepare for the upcoming tournament. He mentioned comprehensive plans for the competition and the backing from coaches and the board of control in their preparation.
Nadi will face defending champions Ba in their opening match next Tuesday at Churchill Park in Lautoka. The Nadi squad includes: Ratu Halstead, Vishant Reddy, Shaheel Valentine, Afraz Ali, Leo Lesumai, Abdullah Aiyaz, William Valentine, Ashneel Kumar, Tevita Vonovesi, Ali Naseri, Tuiba Batiratu, Ame Votoniu, Eneriko Matau, Ratu Tulivou, Nilkash Prasad, Vuniuci Tikomaimereke, Steven Underwood, Mohammed Ayman, Beniamino Lebatavatava, Siotame Kubu, and Vereti Dickson, Joela Biuvanua.
