In a heartfelt gesture that embodies the spirit of Christmas, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) staff and management visited St Christopher’s Home in Nakasi, bringing warmth, love, and generosity to the children and staff there. The occasion was marked by a festive dinner and gifts, reflecting LTA’s commitment to community involvement through its corporate social responsibility initiatives.

LTA’s chief executive, Irimaia Rokosawa, spoke about the challenges faced by many of the children at St Christopher’s Home, which provides a sanctuary for those from various difficult backgrounds, including abandoned infants, neglected and unwanted children, orphans, and those coming from broken homes. Rokosawa emphasized that each child has a unique story filled with hardships, and the home plays a crucial role in nurturing them.

“This visit was more than just giving; it was a chance to share in their lives, even briefly, reminding them that they are loved and valued members of our community,” he stated. LTA staff from the Valelevu Branch engaged with the children by sharing meals, singing carols, and having meaningful conversations, underscoring the importance of human connection and the impact that small acts of kindness can make.

Rokosawa expressed that the experience was profoundly meaningful, reinforcing the idea that LTA’s responsibility extends beyond ensuring safety on the roads to nurturing compassion in the community. He acknowledged the significance of giving back and highlighted that the staff members who couldn’t attend still made valuable contributions to the success of the event.

This act of kindness not only brought joy to the children but also served as a reminder of the power of community spirit and compassion during the holiday season. Such initiatives foster a sense of unity and hope within the community, showcasing that even small actions can create a lasting impact.

In summary, LTA’s visit to St Christopher’s Home was a meaningful expression of love and support, reinforcing the importance of community engagement and the impact of kindness, especially during the festive season. As we celebrate the holidays, let this thoughtful engagement inspire others to make a difference in their communities.
