Starting from January 1, 2025, the costs of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) products, diesel, and kerosene will see an increase. Specifically, a 4.5 kg gas cylinder will rise to $15.53, reflecting an 18-cent increase from its previous price of $15.35. Meanwhile, a 12 kg cylinder will now be priced at $41.42 after an increase of 50 cents.
In terms of bulk gas, the price will increase by four cents, bringing the cost to $3.20 per kg. Autogas will also see a rise of three cents, now costing $2.25 per litre. Additionally, both diesel and kerosene prices will increase by four cents per litre. Therefore, a litre of diesel will now be priced at $2.31, while a litre of kerosene will cost consumers $1.78.
It’s worth noting that while the prices for motor spirit and premix remain unchanged at $2.67 per litre and $2.51 per litre respectively, these increases in gas and fuel prices may prompt discussions about the impact on household budgets as well as transportation costs.
Despite the price hikes, consumers can remain hopeful that increased efficiencies, alternative energy options, and potential policy shifts in the future may provide relief. This situation reminds us of the importance of exploring sustainable energy solutions and adjusting our consumption habits for better affordability and environmental stewardship.
