Adi Sera Gonerara, a 21-year-old from Nasikawa in Nadroga with family roots in Namata, Tailevu, emphasizes the need for more love in Fijian households as the number of homeless young adults rises. She is set to represent the Public Rental Board at this year’s Miss Vodafone Nasinu Festival.
As an advocate for addressing youth unemployment, Gonerara feels emotional when she sees her peers begging on the streets. She believes that a key solution to reducing the number of young people facing such hardships is for parents to demonstrate greater love within the home.
Reflecting on her upbringing, she stated, “I was blessed to grow up in a family. There were nine of us. My parents sacrificed a lot to support us. We didn’t have much, but we had love growing up, and that made us who we are today. I believe love starts from home. Families and parents need to show and give love to their children.”
