“Lomary Secondary School Revives Cadet Training After 5-Year Hiatus”

After a five-year hiatus, Lomary Secondary School in Serua held its passing-out parade once again.

Featuring 268 cadets, the parade on Friday was observed by students, parents, alumni, and teachers, showcasing a remarkable display of compliance and discipline.

Chief guest and Minister of Education, Aseri Radrodro, emphasized to the students the importance of integrating discipline into their daily lives.

Mr. Radrodro mentioned that cadet training is crucial for personal development and that most successful individuals practice discipline regularly.

“Discipline should not only be observed during Barrack Week, but it should also be a lifelong commitment,” Mr. Radrodro stated.

“Cadet training, which often focuses on leadership and management, helps students develop valuable skills such as decision-making, teamwork, and the ability to inspire and lead others.”

School head boy, Tevita Tuiloma, who received the baton of honor award, remarked on the significance of the cadet parade after a three-year break.

“The school unified to revive its rich history, demonstrating how cadet training has played a significant role in every student’s journey,” he said.

Tuiloma, aspiring to be a geospatial expert, noted that the cadet program particularly impacted student behavior by steering them towards discipline.

“With the increase in social issues within school environments, I believe these programs will enlighten young minds to overcome peer pressure,” Tuiloma said.

He expressed gratitude to the school management for initiating this program to guide students toward success.

The young man from Naitutu, Tailevu hopes that youths will make wise decisions within their communities.

Tuiloma stated that today’s society is no longer forgiving of poor decisions made by youths.
