Viola Ravutubananitu, a year eight student from Tagitagi Sangam Primary School in Tavua, has distinguished herself as the top scorer in the Fiji Eighth Year Examination, achieving an outstanding score of 491 out of 500. The 13-year-old attributes her success to the unwavering support of her family and her faith in God.
Hailing from Totoya, Lau, and with family connections in Tavualevu, Tavua, Viola shared her appreciation for the encouragement she received throughout her studies. “First and foremost, I thank the Almighty,” she expressed, reflecting on her journey. Viola’s hard work began at the start of the academic year, as she dedicated late nights and early mornings to her studies.
She honors her late grandfather, Aisake Ravutubananitu, as well as her grandmother and parents, dedicating her achievement to them. Viola expressed, “When my grandpa passed away, I felt like I lost a part of me because he always supported me.” Her gratitude extends to her grandmother, Ro Vani Ravutubananitu, her class teacher, Nazeel Ali, and the entire school staff for their significant role in her success.
As the daughter of a corrections officer and a homemaker, Viola aims to further her education by attending Adi Cakobau School (ACS) next year, drawn by its reputation for empowering strong and independent women. Her determination and resilience have not only made her a point of pride for her family but also served as an inspiration to her school community.
