Minister for Local Government and Housing Maciu Nalumisa has confirmed that a special administrator has been dismissed for missing mandatory council meetings. Mr. Nalumisa revealed that the special administrator for Levuka Town Council was terminated due to non-attendance at the last three council meetings. There are currently no potential candidates for the replacement, and it is unclear when the vacancy will be filled. Earlier this year, in March, a special administrator for Rakiraki resigned after being charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) in relation to a financial advantage obtained in 2018.
