Ten local coaches are participating in a five-day Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) B-licence coaching course Part Two, taking place at the Fiji Football Association Academy in Ba. This course, which commenced on Sunday and will wrap up on Thursday, is designed to elevate the coaches’ skills and knowledge.

According to Coach Educator Yogendra Dutt, the program focuses on six key competencies: football fundamentals, leadership, game understanding, player development, the coaching process, and the cultivation of a personal football philosophy. “We aim to provide experiences for the coaches to enhance their skills while also challenging them to adapt to future experiences,” Dutt stated.

This Part Two session follows last December’s completion of B-licence Part One at the Suva Academy and is being led by Dutt alongside national coach Rob Sherman. Notable attendees of this course include Ronil Kumar from Ba, Babs Khan from Suva, Roderick Singh from Rewa, Saiyad Ali from Navua, Rozal Hussain from Savusavu, Johan Leewai from Labasa, Mohammed Asif Khan from Nadi, Dhiren Chand from Ba, Shawal Prasad from Tavua, and Alvin Chand from Labasa.

This training initiative not only enhances the coaches’ professional development, but it also fosters a stronger football community in the region, as these newly acquired skills will ultimately benefit players and teams across the local leagues. The investment in coaching education represents a hopeful future for football in the area, promising to nurture the next generation of talented players.

This program highlights a commitment to fostering quality coaching in Oceania, which can lead to improved performance on the field and greater success for teams.
