A group of ten local coaches is participating in a five-day Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) B-licence coaching course Part Two at the Fiji Football Association Academy located in Ba. The course, which began on Sunday and will run until Thursday, is designed to elevate the expertise and skills of football coaches in the region.
Coach Educator Yogendra Dutt explained the objectives of the training, stating, “We focus on six key competencies: football, leadership, game understanding, player development, the coaching process, and ultimately the development of a personal football philosophy.” This course aims not only to provide opportunities for professional growth but also to inspire coaches to adapt to future challenges in their careers.
This session is the second part of the B-licence program, following the completion of Part One, which took place in December 2023 at the Suva Academy. The current course is being facilitated by Dutt and national coach Rob Sherman.
Among the coaches participating are Ronil Kumar from Ba, Babs Khan from Suva, Roderick Singh from Rewa, Saiyad Ali from Navua, Rozal Hussain from Savusavu, Johan Leewai from Labasa, Mohammed Asif Khan from Nadi, Dhiren Chand from Ba, Shawal Prasad from Tavua, and Alvin Chand from Labasa.
This initiative reflects a strong commitment to the development of football excellence in the region, providing coaches with the necessary tools to enhance their performance and ultimately benefit the sport as a whole. It is a positive step towards building a more competent coaching framework that can significantly impact local football development in the future.
