The People’s Alliance (PA) party has appointed Ro Filipe Tuisawau as one of its new deputy leaders, taking over from Lynda Tabuya, who was ousted from the position in March. Tabuya’s dismissal was associated with allegations of her involvement in an extramarital affair and a drug scandal that occurred during a government trip to the Parliament of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia, last year.
The appointment of Ro Filipe was confirmed by the party’s acting secretary, Sila Balawa, following the approval of the party’s executive committee during a meeting held on September 25. Ro Filipe currently holds the position of Minister for Public Works, Transport, and Meteorological Services, and he is also the Leader of Government Business in Parliament. Additionally, he served as the Opposition Whip from 2018 to 2022 under the previous government.
