Committee Chair Iliesa Vanawalu underscored the urgent need for intervention, pointing out that while the City Council is fundamentally focused on rate collection and service provision, its ability to effectively handle emerging social and environmental challenges is increasingly in doubt.
Vanawalu stressed that the escalating problems within Lautoka require immediate action from the City Council. He stated, “Given the current situation, the Municipal Council must review its functions and operation procedures. It is a matter of urgency.”
