The Lautoka team continued its impressive performance at the Extra Supermarket Futsal IDC competition by achieving a 5-3 victory over Nadi in Suva. This marks their second consecutive win in the tournament. Lautoka’s scoring was led by Zibraaz Sahib, who contributed one goal, as well as Aporosa Yada, who netted two goals. Veteran player Taniela Waqa also added to the scoreline. On the opposing side, Nadi’s goals were scored by Mohammed Shalmeen, Bir Khan, and Mohammed Ayman.
Coach Waseem Kutty praised his players for their commitment to adhering to strategies despite the challenges faced during the match. He highlighted the importance of maintaining a solid defensive strategy, especially during halftime, and encouraged his team to continue focusing on their upcoming matches.
“While I believe we could have scored a few more, I commend the boys for their effort,” said Kutty. Looking forward, he expressed that the team’s primary focus is on their next game against Lami, scheduled for 6 pm today.
In addition to the men’s matches, the women’s division saw Tailevu Naitasiri narrowly defeat Nasinu 2-1, while Northland Tailevu faced a setback against Rewa with a score of 2-6.
