Lautoka made a remarkable upset on the second day of the primary school inter-district competition by defeating Rewa with a score of 2-1.
From the outset, Lautoka demonstrated energy and determination on the field. They took an early lead with a powerful header from a corner kick, initially putting them ahead 1-0. However, Rewa responded swiftly, equalizing just before halftime to bring the score to 1-1.
The second half was filled with intensity, as both teams pushed hard to gain an advantage. Lautoka regained the lead after executing a clever series of passes, resulting in a goal that made the score 2-1. Rewa pressed hard to make a comeback, but Lautoka’s defense remained robust, and their goalkeeper made several crucial saves. As the final whistle sounded, the Lautoka team celebrated their hard-fought victory.
Lautoka’s coach, Kavneel Chand, expressed that the win was a testament to the boys’ hard work. “This victory reflects how teamwork and dedication can yield positive outcomes, and I am very proud of the team,” he stated.
Chand explained that the players representing the Lautoka district were selected after a trial process. “Our preparations were effective. We started recruiting players several weeks ago following the inter-primary competition. Schools were invited to send their best players for trials, which helped us form a strong team.”
He also had a message for opposing teams, urging them to arrive fully prepared for their matches.
