Lami High School’s Rising Stars Join Drua Academy

Four players from the under-19 team of Lami High School have achieved the remarkable feat of being selected for the esteemed Swire Shipping Fijian Drua Academy, highlighting the importance of hard work in attaining success.

The news from Drua management brought an emotional reaction from the young athletes and their supporters, including trainer Sireli Bobo.

Representing a small school, this achievement exemplifies the rewards of commitment and determination.

The talented players chosen for the Drua Academy are Ro Mocelutu Macanawai, Inia Colatanavanua, Vilimoni Raivasi, and Isoa Laulaba.

Team manager Adilina Motea expressed great pride in their success, emphasizing its significance for both the school and the students. She stated that the main priority is the well-being and future opportunities for the boys, whether in sports or academics.

“It is a significant achievement for us, and we are pleased that our efforts are beneficial for our students,” Motea remarked. “Our focus is on helping these kids succeed in life, whether through sports or education, with fame being secondary.”

The school recognizes rugby as a crucial pathway for success, acknowledging its potential to lead young athletes to lucrative contracts abroad.

“We understand that rugby can be a primary source of income and can greatly assist young boys in securing future contracts overseas.”

The selection of these four players for the Drua Academy marks a significant milestone for Lami High School, reflecting the untapped potential within its students.

The Deans semi-finals competition is scheduled to take place at the HFC Bank Stadium and Bidesi Park on Saturday.
