The principal of Lami High School, Cama Toko, announced that the official celebration for their victory in the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Vodafone Deans Trophy Under 19 will take place on Saturday within the school grounds.
Toko mentioned that the event is being organized by the school’s alumni, along with the parents and teachers association. There are plans for a parade starting from Harbour Point in Suvavou leading to Lami High School.
“All stakeholders are involved in the preparations; we aim to ensure everything is ready before classes begin again next Tuesday for Term Three,” he noted.
Toko believes that while sports are an essential part of the school’s curriculum, they also offer students potential career opportunities. He emphasized the importance of encouraging students to engage in various sports, stating, “This victory has uplifted the morale and enthusiasm among our students, bringing a wave of positivity.”
Lami High School has received invitations to participate in both the Hibiscus touch rugby competition and the Fiji Secondary School cricket competition. They are also preparing for the off-season for rugby league, which will commence next term.
Toko highlighted the school’s commitment to inclusive education, aiming to meet students’ individual needs. He stated that sports serve as a means to guide students away from drugs and other social problems.
