Ladies Darts Tournament Returns After Five-Year Hiatus!

The Defence Club is set to host the Cardos sponsored Ladies 501 Singles competition at the Fiji Club tomorrow, an event that has generated significant excitement.

Edward Roxburgh, president of the Suva Darts Association, emphasized that this tournament signifies the resurgence of women’s competitions after a lengthy hiatus of over five years, with 16 participants joining from various skill levels.

The tournament is structured into four pools, each featuring four players.

Roxburgh noted, “The top seeds include well-known players Mereoni Naikanitoba and Mable Maino from Papua New Guinea.”

The champion of the event will receive $400 along with a trophy, with additional prizes awarded to the runner-up, semi-finalists, and pool winners.

There is a growing anticipation for discovering the most promising new player among the competitors.

“This tournament not only serves as a competition platform but also plays an essential role in the selection process for Team Fiji,” Roxburgh stated.

The selected team will represent Fiji at the upcoming fourth South Pacific Darts Championships, which will be held in January 2025, organized by the Fiji Darts Association.

Additionally, the Fintel Open Teams League contributes to the excitement, taking place on Monday and Thursday evenings at the Fiji Club.

With playoffs approaching in the coming weeks, the darts scene in Fiji is poised to be filled with thrilling action.
