Extra Supermarket Labasa FC has secured a place in the Super Premier final, defeating Mahijibhai Builders/Calgary Nadi FC with a score of 4-1 in the first semi-final. The Babasiga Lions showcased impressive skills and speed, outplaying the Jetsetters in virtually every aspect of the game.
Molea Tigi opened the scoring for Labasa, giving them a 1-0 lead at halftime. In the second half, Christopher Wasasala scored twice, reinforcing Labasa’s dominance in the match. Nadi managed to net a consolation goal through Tuiba Batiratu, whose long-range shot flew past Labasa goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau. An own goal from Nadi during injury time concluded the match at 4-1 in favor of Labasa.
Labasa will now await the outcome of the second semi-final featuring Stratum Construction/Zeg Investment Navua FC against Extra Supermarket Rewa FC. Labasa’s coach, Ravneel Pratap, praised his team’s confidence and performance, acknowledging Nadi as a formidable opponent. Nadi’s coach, Raj Dayal, expressed disappointment in the loss, citing the challenging ground conditions as a contributing factor and admitted that Labasa was the stronger team on the day.
