The Papua New Guinea Kumuls will aim to maintain possession of the ball as they prepare to take on the Vodafone Fiji Bati at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva tonight.
Kumuls captain Rhyse Martin expressed the team’s strategy to prevent the Bati from seeking revenge for their previous defeat. Last year, the Kumuls triumphed over the Bati with a score of 32-12 in Port Moresby.
Martin stated, “We’re definitely just making sure that we’re holding the ball and getting through our sets. We know that if you don’t hold the ball, it’s going to be a hard day on the field, and we’ll eventually crack under pressure.”
After wrapping up their training session yesterday, Martin emphasized that the team plans to adhere to their game strategy during the match against the Bati.
He added, “We’re focused on sticking to the game plan in our sets, not giving the ball away too easily in our own half, and concentrating on completion as a team.”
The Kumuls are looking forward to their championship campaign opener against Fiji and are encouraging members of the PNG community in Fiji to come out and support them at 8:10 PM.
