Renu Chand, Partner in Charge for Business and Tax Advisory at KPMG Fiji, is set to retire at the end of next month after nearly 20 years of dedicated service. Ms. Chand began her journey at KPMG Fiji’s Business Services Group as a senior manager on January 30, 2005, and became a partner in January 2007.
In a tribute to Ms. Chand, Managing Partner Lisa Apted highlighted her numerous pivotal roles within the firm. “From Head of People, Performance & Culture to Chief Information Officer and most recently, Partner in Charge of Fiji Business & Tax Advisory Services, Renu has played an instrumental role in our success,” Apted stated.
Apted also noted Ms. Chand’s key contributions to the establishment of the Fiji Dynamix initiative and the launch of the new Nadi office in 2023, following the integration with KPMG Australia. “Renu has consistently exemplified KPMG’s values, building trust with clients and delivering innovative solutions,” she added.
The transition of client engagements from Ms. Chand’s portfolio is currently in progress, with personal introductions to new engagement partners. “Ensuring continuity and high-quality service is crucial for us as a firm, and we are committed to working closely with our clients throughout this transition,” Apted remarked.
Apted recognized Ms. Chand as a trailblazing female business leader. She previously served as president and treasurer of the Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants and was the first female member from Fiji to become a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. She also held the position of immediate past president of the Fiji New Zealand Business Council, being the first female to do so.
In addition to her leadership roles, Ms. Chand has been involved in various non-profit and charitable organizations, with a focus on child safety, promoting equal opportunities for women, and advocating for workplace diversity. Apted mentioned that Renu plans to increase her community involvement post-retirement.
As for her future plans, Ms. Chand will take a well-deserved break to spend quality time with her family, including her three daughters living abroad. She is also looking forward to experiencing the Taranaki Garden Festival in New Zealand and has planned deep-sea fishing adventures with her husband in some of Fiji’s renowned fishing spots.
Apted concluded by expressing heartfelt good wishes for Ms. Chand’s retirement, emphasizing the lasting impact of her friendship, leadership, and commitment to the community on those who have worked alongside her.
