KPMG Fiji Bids Farewell to Pioneering Partner Renu Chand

Accounting firm KPMG Fiji has announced the retirement of Renu Chand, the partner responsible for Fiji Business & Tax Advisory services. Ms. Chand will officially retire at the end of next month after nearly two decades with the firm. She began her career at KPMG Fiji’s Business Services Group as a senior manager in January 2005 and became a partner in January 2007.

Throughout her nearly 20-year tenure, Ms. Chand took on several key roles, including Head of People, Performance & Culture; Head of Learning & Development; Chief Information Officer; National IT Security Officer; and Privacy Liaison Officer.

KPMG Fiji’s managing partner, Lisa Apted, praised Ms. Chand’s professionalism and the loyalty of her clients, stating, “Renu is a deeply trusted professional, and the high calibre of her diverse client base is testament to the value clients place in her.” Apted expressed gratitude for the significant contributions Ms. Chand has made to the firm.

Ms. Chand played a vital role in launching the initial pilot and ongoing setup of Fiji Dynamix, as well as in the establishment of KPMG’s new Nadi office in 2023, following its integration with KPMG Australia.

A pioneering female business leader, Ms. Chand is a former president and treasurer of the Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants, and she was the first female Fiji member to become a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. Upon her retirement, she plans to travel and spend time with family living abroad.

Apted added that the transition of Ms. Chand’s clients is already in progress, including personal introductions to new partners. “Continuity of engagements and maintaining a high quality of service is paramount to us as a firm, and we will work with clients to ensure a smooth transition,” she stated.
