KPMG Fiji Bids Farewell to a Trailblazing Leader

KPMG Fiji has announced the retirement of Renu Chand, who has served as the partner in charge of Fiji Business & Tax Advisory services. Ms. Chand will officially retire at the end of next month, concluding nearly two decades with the firm. She began her journey with KPMG Fiji’s Business Services Group as a senior manager in January 2005 and became a partner in January 2007.

Throughout her nearly twenty-year career, Ms. Chand has held several key positions, including Head of People, Performance & Culture; Head of Learning & Development; Chief Information Officer; National IT Security Officer; and Privacy Liaison Officer.

“Renu is a deeply trusted professional, and the high calibre of her diverse client base is a testament to the value clients place in her,” stated KPMG Fiji managing partner Lisa Apted. She added, “She has delivered exceptional client service experiences at every opportunity, and we thank her for the valuable contribution she has made to the firm.”

Ms. Chand played a crucial role in launching the initial pilot and establishing the ongoing Fiji Dynamix setup as well as KPMG’s new Nadi office in 2023, after integrating with KPMG Australia. A trailblazing female business leader, she previously served as president and treasurer of the Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants and was the first female member from Fiji to become a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. In retirement, Ms. Chand intends to travel and spend time with family living abroad.

Ms. Apted noted that the transition of Ms. Chand’s clients is currently in progress, including personal introductions to new partners. “Continuity of engagements and maintaining a high quality of service is paramount to us as a firm, and we will work with clients to ensure a smooth transition,” she emphasized.
