Koro High School held its inaugural Cadet Pass Out Parade on Friday, marking a significant milestone fifty-four years after the school’s founding. The event drew a large crowd from the local community, who came to celebrate this historic occasion, which promises to lay a strong foundation for the students’ future.

Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew officiated the ceremony, emphasizing that the day should be dedicated to the cadets, their families, the community, and the educators who supported them. He remarked, “You are our special guests because you have paved the way for the Fiji Police Force to collaborate with you in nurturing the students of Koro High through this Cadet training.”

In light of recent concerns regarding youth crime, Chew offered heartfelt advice to the students. He stated, “I could discuss statistics and cases all day, but that won’t effect change. The key factor in whether you become involved in crime lies in your discipline. Those who practice discipline can secure a better future.”

Chew urged students who may have had conflicts with school authorities to seize the opportunity to learn from their mistakes and develop self-discipline. “It’s not too late to change. Grow from your experiences and train your mind to make better choices to ensure a brighter tomorrow.”

The Acting Commissioner also spoke directly to parents, guardians, and community members, reminding them of their vital role in their children’s lives. “Our children are our most significant achievement and investment. As a father, I urge you to prioritize their safety and well-being.”

He encouraged parents to cherish the moments spent with their children, as they will eventually grow and pursue their own paths. Chew stressed the importance of being a reliable source of guidance and information, which can only be achieved through quality time together. He concluded, “While tomorrow is uncertain, let us commit to making today safe for our children so they can reach their full potential.”
