Osea Kolinisau, the head coach of Fiji’s Men’s National 7s team, has expressed pride in Ponipate Loganimasi for joining the Fijian Drua team. Kolinisau emphasizes the significance of player development and seizing opportunities that come their way.
Loganimasi, notable for his speed on the rugby field, will be reuniting with his Paris Olympics teammates Iosefo Masi and Selestino Ravutaumada in the Drua Men’s squad for the upcoming 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season.
In his first appearance for the national 15s team, Loganimasi made a significant contribution by scoring two tries during the Pacific Nations Cup final against Japan after stepping in due to Ravutaumada’s injury in an early match of the tournament.
Kolinisau shared his enthusiasm for Loganimasi’s advancement, indicating that he encourages all his players to embrace a similar trajectory from 7s to 15s rugby. He remarked, “I’m happy with Loganimasi joining the Drua; that’s what we want—progression from 7s to 15s.”
He also noted that moving into the 15s game can enhance players’ skills while presenting better financial prospects. Kolinisau concluded by wishing Loganimasi well in his upcoming season with the Drua and in achieving his future ambitions.
