“Knockout Call: Boxer Inspires Women to Step into the Ring”

Boxer Maureen Neumia is encouraging women across the country to embrace the sport of boxing. Neumia, who began her boxing journey in 2019 with the support of her husband, Fred Chand, a promoter with South Pacific Boxing Promotion, expressed her enthusiasm for increasing female participation in the sport during an interview.

“I’m calling on women to take up boxing, especially since they excel in various other sports,” she stated.

The 37-year-old boxer is fully prepared for her upcoming fight against Amo Wati, scheduled for Saturday at Prince Charles Park in Nadi. “I’ve been training rigorously and I’m hopeful everything will go according to plan in the ring. Training with my son has made the process smoother,” she added.

Neumia also encouraged boxing enthusiasts to attend the event on Saturday, where three International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Asia Pacific titles will be contested.
