Keiyasi Town Development: A Boost for Local Economy!

The Keiyasi Town Development Project is on track, with Phase 1 expected to be completed by October 2025. Minister for Housing and Local Government, Maciu Nalumisa, confirmed this during a recent site visit where he met with contractors to assess the project’s progress.

Phase 1 involves an investment of $10.4 million, focusing on essential civil works that will prepare the area for subsequent development phases. The second phase will include the construction of important civic buildings and public amenities, benefiting the residents of Keiyasi and nearby regions.

Nalumisa emphasized the project’s significance, stating it is a top priority for the Coalition Government. He noted, “This project is one of the key areas that the coalition government is working on right now to bring services closer to communities and promote development in areas across Fiji, particularly in the Nadroga-Navosa provinces where residents often need to travel to main urban centers.”

The completion of the Keiyasi Town Development Project is anticipated to provide a substantial boost to the local economy and contribute positively to the national GDP. The development will feature a new town center, commercial and industrial zones, as well as facilities for critical services including the National Fire Authority and various government agencies.

“This project will not only transform Keiyasi but will also uplift surrounding regions by enhancing access to essential services and economic opportunities,” Nalumisa added.

Over nine hectares of land have been designated for the project, which falls under the Ministry of Local Government’s urban planning and management program, aimed at encouraging regional development and supporting local communities.
