Young entrepreneur Selemo Banicau from Vusasivo, Natewa, has shared insights into the recently established business, Veitamani Kava Dealers, aimed at supporting local farmers in the sale of kava. Despite launching the business only seven months ago, it has gained momentum, benefiting both the company and the farmers.

Banicau stated that the primary objective of this initiative is to offer assistance to local farmers who frequently face challenges in accessing quick cash for their kava crops. Veitamani Kava Dealers, which operates within the Natewa area, is purchasing kava from various villages, including Dawa, Vusasivo, and Nadavaci.

Currently, the company is acquiring a kilo of kava at prices ranging from $10 to $11, depending on its quality. Banicau emphasized that this pricing strategy is designed to ensure fair returns for the farmers involved. The kava is not only sold locally, particularly at the Savusavu market, but is also expected to yield significant earnings for the business, potentially ranging between $5,000 and $6,000 weekly based on current sales.

While the venture faces difficulties, such as adverse weather conditions affecting kava supply, Banicau remains hopeful. He encourages his peers to explore beneficial opportunities for community improvement and emphasizes the importance of faith and perseverance in overcoming challenges.

This story highlights the resilience and entrepreneurial spirit within local communities. The initiative not only supports farmers but also strengthens local economies, showcasing the positive impact that small businesses can have in promoting sustainable practices and enhancing livelihoods in the region.

In summary, Selemo Banicau’s Veitamani Kava Dealers is a shining example of a young entrepreneur driving positive change, paving the way for a sustainable kava market while supporting local farmers and enhancing their financial stability.
