The Veitamani Kava Dealers have launched a business initiative aimed at supporting local communities by facilitating the sale of kava. Led by 29-year-old Selemo Banicau from Vusasivo, Natewa, the business is still in its early stages but has already shown promising growth that benefits both their operations and local kava consumers.
Banicau highlighted that one of the main goals of this initiative is to address the urgent financial needs often faced by families and communities relying on quick cash flow. The Veitamani Kava Dealers are operating primarily in several villages around Natewa, including Dawa, Vusasivo, and Nadavaci, among others.
The kava is sold at prices ranging from $10 to $11 per kilo, with variations based on quality and demand. The dealers are experiencing a steady increase in sales, often selling their products in markets in Savusavu as well.
Looking ahead, Banicau anticipates that they can achieve sales between $5,000 and $6,000 in a week, based on their current momentum. They are dedicated to expanding their business, enabling them to build homes and invest in their futures through initiatives like the Fiji Holding Unit Trust.
However, he pointed out challenges posed by changing weather patterns, which have made it difficult to maintain consistent kava production. Despite these hurdles, Banicau encourages his peers to embrace innovative and beneficial practices that lead to improved living standards while seeking divine guidance for their endeavors.
This story highlights the resilience and creativity of local entrepreneurs in Fiji as they navigate challenges and work towards community empowerment through sustainable business practices.
Summary: The Veitamani Kava Dealers, led by Selemo Banicau, have established a business to support local communities through the sale of kava. Despite facing challenges like weather impacts on production, they’re seeing growth and hope to achieve significant weekly sales while focusing on community assistance and future investments.
