Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka emphasized the need to curb kava abuse during the Tailevu Provincial Council meeting held at Vuci Village on Wednesday. He urged the community to moderate their kava consumption, highlighting the increasing prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the country.

The council meeting serves as a platform to address social issues affecting local communities. Mr. Rabuka called on village leaders to take steps to regulate kava use and encouraged individuals to empower themselves to better manage the challenges of the current times.

He pointed out that several issues have emerged among Fijians, reinforcing the necessity of a collective approach to enhance the quality of life and build resilience. Mr. Rabuka commended the province’s Strategic Development Plan, which aligns with government goals, stating the importance of prioritizing development this year. He emphasized that strong leadership is key to achieving their aspirations.
