Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka called for an end to kava abuse during the opening of the Tailevu Provincial Council meeting held in Vuci Village on Wednesday. He urged the community to avoid excessive kava consumption, as he addressed the increasing prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the nation.
During the meeting, Mr. Rabuka highlighted the council’s role as a platform for addressing social challenges within local communities. He emphasized the importance of village leaders taking steps to regulate kava use and empowering individuals to better cope with the ongoing difficulties faced during these unprecedented times.
He acknowledged that several issues have arisen among Fijians, underscoring the need for a collective effort to improve lives and build resilience. The Prime Minister commended the province’s Strategic Development Plan, which aligns with the Government’s goals.
“Development will be a primary focus for the Tailevu Provincial Council this year. This is a critical topic as we strive to achieve our development objectives. Strong leadership is essential for realizing our ambitions,” he stated.
