Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka addressed the issue of kava abuse during the Tailevu Provincial Council meeting in Vuci Village on Wednesday. He urged the community to limit excessive kava consumption, linking it to the growing prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the country.
The council meeting serves as a platform for addressing social issues in local communities. Mr. Rabuka called on village leaders to take action in regulating kava use and emphasized the importance of empowering individuals to better navigate the challenges currently faced.
He noted the various challenges emerging among Fijians, highlighting the need for a united approach to improve lives and build resilience. The Prime Minister commended the province’s Strategic Development Plan, which aligns with governmental objectives.
“The Tailevu Provincial Council will focus on development this year, as it is a vital aspect of our goals. Strong leadership is crucial for achieving our aspirations,” he stated.
