Kava Caution: PM Rabuka’s Call for Change

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka urged the public to avoid excessive kava consumption during the Tailevu Provincial Council meeting held in Vuci Village on Wednesday. He highlighted concerns regarding the increasing rates of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the nation.

The council meeting serves as a vital platform for addressing social issues within local communities. Mr. Rabuka emphasized the responsibility of village leaders to create regulations around kava use and stressed the importance of empowering individuals to better face the challenges of the current times.

He acknowledged the emergence of various issues affecting Fijians and the necessity for a collaborative approach to improve quality of life and build resilience. The Prime Minister commended the province’s Strategic Development Plan, noting its alignment with government goals.

“Development will be a priority for the Tailevu Provincial Council this year. This is a key topic as we strive to achieve our development objectives. Effective leadership is crucial for realizing our ambitions,” Mr. Rabuka stated.
