Kamikamica’s Tour: Insights into Western Fiji’s Economic Growth!

Divisional Commissioner of the Western Division, Apolosi Lewaqai, held a meeting today with Manoa Kamikamica, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Cooperative, MSMEs & Communications, as part of his ongoing visit to the region.

During the meeting, Lewaqai’s office presented an overview of the key economic activities taking place in the western division, which include tourism, sugar, non-sugar agriculture, mining, bottled water production, international gateways, mini-hydro energy projects, and pine forestry.

The office also reported significant achievements, including the completion of Rural Housing Assistance programs and community efforts to tackle pressing challenges such as drug abuse, urban migration, HIV/AIDS, and land disputes.

Additionally, Lewaqai discussed the enhancement of the Integrated Rural Development Framework (IRDF) with DPM Kamikamica to better empower Divisional Commissioners in their coordination roles.

As part of his ongoing tour, DPM Kamikamica is also scheduled to visit several organizations, including the Nadi Town Council, Fiji Airways, Mindpearl Fiji, Challenge Group of Companies Ltd, Michelly Investment Ltd, and Amex Resources (Fiji) Ltd.
