Kamikamica Quashes Political Party Split Rumors

The Deputy Prime Minister, Manoa Kamikamica, has rejected allegations that certain members of the People’s Alliance Party are trying to establish a new political party, describing these claims as unfounded rumors.

This statement follows a meeting of the Party earlier this week, where it was determined that the majority of Caucus members are in full support of the Party Leader and Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka.

Kamikamica warned that any discussions about forming a new party could pose a risk to the stability of the nation.

The People’s Alliance Party emphasized that the rumors regarding some members seeking to create a new party are baseless.

“I want to clarify that after discussions I’ve had, it reflects the consensus among all Caucus members. We are united in believing that if anyone intends to leave and establish a party, it is likely just a rumor without substance,” Kamikamica stated.

He reiterated the party’s commitment to unity and advancing the nation’s interests.

“There is much work to be done, such as next year’s constitutional review, the reconciliation commission, and efforts to grow the economy by five percent. We have significant challenges to address,” he remarked.

Kamikamica pointed out that the people recently appointed a new government after 16 years of different leadership, asserting that any move to create a new party could jeopardize the country’s stability.

“We must clearly see what needs to be accomplished in Fiji. Anyone attempting to form a political party now should resign, as we need to concentrate and demonstrate discipline, ensuring we remain on our current path,” he stated.

“Stability is crucial for the country, which is why many of us quickly rallied behind the Prime Minister to address what I believe is simply unfounded speculation,” he added.

Kamikamica urged Fijians to focus on preserving political and economic stability and advised against spreading rumors.
