Kalaveti Ravouvou, a talented centre for the Flying Fijians, has solidified his commitment to Bristol Bears with a contract extension. The 26-year-old, originally from Nadroga, has quickly become one of the most prominent players in the Gallagher Premiership since joining the Bears from Fijian Drua in the summer of 2023.
Ravouvou has made a significant impact this season, scoring seven tries for the Bears. His remarkable performances include scoring twice in matches against Northampton Saints and Leicester Tigers. Notably, in the Bears’ historic win over the Tigers last month, he recorded 230 meters with the ball, marking one of the highest single-game records in Premiership history. He also demonstrated his agility and strength by breaking through ten defenders and completing 18 carries.
With four international caps for Fiji, Ravouvou made his debut in the 2022 Autumn Nations Series against Ireland. His performance has drawn praise from his club’s Director of Rugby, Pat Lam, who emphasized his exceptional skills and versatility across the backline, stating that Ravouvou’s development is highly anticipated as he continues to evolve his game with the Bears.
Expressing his excitement about staying with the team, Ravouvou highlighted his enjoyment of the club culture, environment, and the bond with his teammates. He is optimistic about the future and looks forward to the achievements the team can attain in the coming years.
This news not only reflects Ravouvou’s personal growth and success but also showcases the promising trajectory of the Bristol Bears as they build a strong team for the future. The club’s investment in talented players like Ravouvou is surely a positive sign for their aspirations in the league.
