K9 officers successfully tracked down and arrested a man involved in an alleged burglary in Taveuni last night. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu reported that the Taveuni Police Station received a call regarding a break-in at an estate, prompting the deployment of a K9 team.
Upon arrival, the K9 officers located and apprehended the suspect, recovering several items believed to have been stolen. The suspect is currently in custody as investigations are ongoing.
ACP Driu emphasized that as the festive season approaches, the K9 unit will enhance divisional operations through both mobile and foot patrols. He also urged property owners to implement essential security measures.
“Some incidents have shown no signs of forced entry, indicating that entries were left unlocked. Often, we become complacent and neglect security protocols for our homes, which can lead to burglary incidents,” he stated. “The Fiji Police Force encourages everyone to remain vigilant as a proactive approach to deter criminal behavior.”
