Juvenile Crime Surge: Five Charged in Alarming Break-ins

Five juveniles were charged by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions last month for serious offenses. A 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man face charges of aggravated burglary and theft after allegedly breaking into a 76-year-old woman’s residence and stealing a television, several household appliances, FJD $500, and AUD $250.

In a separate case, three 17-year-old boys were charged with aggravated burglary, theft, and receiving stolen property after they reportedly entered a school premises and stole five laptops along with a sound system speaker.

Additionally, an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were charged with aggravated burglary and theft for allegedly breaking into a 46-year-old man’s home and taking a laptop, a chainsaw, and a mobile phone.

In total, 38 individuals were charged with 42 counts of non-sexual violence offenses in September. These charges include one count of murder, one count of manslaughter due to a breach of duty, five counts of aggravated robbery, nine counts of aggravated burglary, two counts of burglary, ten counts of theft, three counts of receiving stolen property, one count of acting with intent to cause grievous harm, one count of grievous harm, four counts of unlawful cultivation of illicit drugs, three counts of unlawful possession of illicit drugs, one count of breach of bail conditions, and one count of breach of a suspended sentence.
