One of the two men found guilty of stealing $11,000 has been ordered to serve five years of his six-year sentence before becoming eligible for parole. Saula Luveitasau, who represented himself in court, appeared before Judge Justice Pita Bulamainaivalu to answer to two counts of aggravated robbery.
According to court documents, Luveitasau and an accomplice unlawfully entered the residence of Zheng Jinwen on two occasions in December three years ago. During the theft, which involved cash and various items, Luveitasau used physical force and intimidated Mr. Jinwen with aggressive threats.
Meanwhile, Luveitasau’s co-accused, Taito Soko Tuilevuka, is scheduled to go to trial next year. Justice Bulamainaivalu denied his bail application, and his production order was extended. The case will reconvene on November 27 to assess trial readiness.
This case highlights the judicial system’s commitment to addressing serious crimes and ensuring justice for victims. As the legal proceedings continue for the co-accused, there is hope that a thorough investigation will lead to appropriate consequences for their actions, reinforcing community safety.
In summary, while one man begins his sentence, the legal process continues for the other, emphasizing accountability and the importance of upholding the law.
