The family of Shabreen Shain Ali, a 28-year-old woman found dead in Raiwaqa, Suva this week, is calling for justice. Her mother, Anjila Wati Prasad, expressed concerns that the details provided by the police regarding her daughter’s death did not align with the initial information she received from authorities.
Shabreen’s younger sister, Shireen Shristi Shankar, also shared her shock upon receiving the tragic news, revealing that her sister’s body was only identifiable by a tattoo featuring her partner’s name. She noted that her brother-in-law could not recognize Shabreen’s face due to severe bruising.
“I believe justice will be given to her and the suspect will be caught,” Shankar stated as the family seeks answers.
The police are currently investigating the matter but have refrained from commenting on the specifics of the case. It is alleged that Shabreen, a mother of two, suffered serious injuries inflicted by her partner using a sharp object.
Anjila Wati Prasad mentioned that Shabreen had visited a few months ago, but they did not see each other at that time. She revealed that Shabreen came home on April 26 but did not have an opportunity to meet with her. Last Saturday, Shabreen was at her partner’s residence, and on Sunday, she returned to a property in Raiwaqa, which was reportedly owned by a close friend.
