Junior Golfer’s Breakthrough Moment at Fiji Golf Open

Isireli Digitaki, a year nine student, is expressing his gratitude for the experience he gained at the Fiji Golf Open. The student from Nabua Secondary School took part in the junior category tournament held at the Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa last Saturday.

“It was my first time participating in the Fiji Golf Open and I’m happy with my scores,” he shared. He acknowledged that the pressure affected his performance, leading to some poor swings that disrupted his game.

Digitaki enjoyed the company of his two uncles and older siblings during the tournament, all of whom won prizes, including electrical appliances. “We can’t afford some of these items, but to win them for free is something we are really proud of,” he said.

He mentioned the challenge of managing his golf bag, which made it physically demanding and led to fatigue. “I need to work on controlling the pressure to improve my performance in the next tournament,” Digitaki stated, also expressing gratitude to God for giving him the strength to complete the three-day event.

He recognized Complete Insurance Services for covering the cost of his golf membership, emphasizing that without their support he wouldn’t have had the opportunity to compete. He extended thanks to Arvin Lal and Taitusi Tuivuci for assisting other juniors and him in participating in this tournament, as well as the Fiji Professional Golfers Association (PGA) for sponsoring ten juniors with free entry.

“Many of us juniors participating cannot afford the entry fee,” he explained. Digitaki concluded by thanking his family and teachers for their encouragement and guidance throughout the tournament.
