JP Bayly Trust’s Generous Gift Aims to Transform Lives in Fiji

The JP Bayly Trust has made a generous donation of $20,000 to Habitat for Humanity Fiji to aid in housing and community development programs. Trust chairman Digby Bossley highlighted the importance of this support, stating it aims to help disadvantaged Fijians who are working to rebuild their lives. He noted that numerous individuals in Fiji are still living in tents or have lost their homes due to natural disasters, while many others are unable to afford to construct a new dwelling.

Bossley expressed concern over the instability faced by these communities, which leads to various socioeconomic and health challenges. He affirmed that the Trust was eager to collaborate with Habitat Fiji to provide a sense of security and help individuals lift themselves out of poverty through the organization’s projects.

Susan Naidu, the national director of Habitat for Humanity Fiji, shared that the Daulomani Home in Lautoka, established during the COVID-19 pandemic, has been a crucial temporary shelter for homeless families and individuals. She indicated that the recent donation would be utilized to enhance access to essential services like electricity and necessary kitchen appliances, including refrigerators, freezers, and cooking stoves.

Naidu expressed gratitude for the donation, stating that it inspires Habitat for Humanity Fiji to continue its mission of building homes and fostering hope for the vulnerable populations in the country. She emphasized that each home constructed provides families with a stronger foundation for healthier and more dignified living.

Earlier this year, Habitat for Humanity Fiji and the JP Bayly Trust formalized their partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at strengthening cooperative efforts and providing comprehensive support to marginalized communities.
