Illustration of Hill Hopes to Continue Winning Streak

Jonathan Hill Plans to Secure Title Fight with Victory over Rupeni Rokoratu

Jonathan Hill is optimistic about maintaining his winning streak as he prepares for his second professional bout against Labasa’s Rupeni Rokoratu in the South Pacific boxing promotion next month in Labasa.

“Preparation has been good, and my younger brother Winston and I are always ready,” Hill stated. “My approach in this fight is to knock out Rokoratu to elevate my ranking.”

Hill aims for a title fight on the condition that he defeats Rokoratu. “This is my first time fighting Rokoratu, and it’s almost like amateur boxing where we just go in and handle it in the ring,” he mentioned. “My motivation to win the fight is my son.”

Hill hasn’t extensively studied his opponent, focusing instead on enhancing his own skills and strength. “It’s been beneficial to have my younger brother Winston involved in my preparation, and I guess it makes my opponent wary of me,” he said. “This will also be my first time fighting in Labasa.”

Hill secured a victory in his first professional fight in the super middleweight division against Donasio Macedru at the Lewis Hill boxing promotions at Vodafone Arena, Suva, last year. “I’m working on improving my fitness with the goal to win,” he noted. “I was unfit in my last fight, but I accomplished the task.”

Hill acknowledged the experience he gained from his previous professional bout. “I will be aiming for the super middleweight title of Fiji after this fight and possibly the light heavyweight title as well,” he added. “Whoever holds the title, I’ll be going after them.”
