Farmers, students, and the general public are invited to participate in the upcoming National Agriculture Show, set to take place at the Valelevu grounds next month. The event, themed ‘Empowering Farmers, Cultivating Resilience through Innovation and Inclusiveness in Climate Smart Agriculture,’ will span three days beginning on October 15.
Agriculture Minister Vatimi Rayalu highlighted that the gathering will bring together farmers, industry leaders, agricultural experts, and enthusiasts from across the country to showcase the latest innovations in agriculture and sustainable practices.
“This year, we will host supplementary events where the public can engage in practical sessions and discussions led by experts on topics including soil health and smart farming techniques,” Mr. Rayalu stated.
A Farmers Village will be established at the grounds, attracting farmers from throughout Fiji who will have the opportunity to display their produce and value-added products. New livestock breeds, including various beef breeds such as Wagyu, Senepol, Brown Swiss, and Droughtmaster, will also be featured alongside pigs, sheep, and goats.
The event will highlight the services provided at various agricultural stations across Fiji, aiming to inform the public about the significance of agriculture and the collaborative efforts required to enhance the nation’s agricultural sector.
Additionally, the Animal and Production Division will showcase key functions such as Urea Molasses Block and silage production, biogas technologies, electrical fencing, and semen collection for boars, along with a pet show in collaboration with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
