Japan’s $2.6M Boost for Fiji’s Future Leaders

The Government of Japan is set to support the Fijian government’s capacity-building vision by offering scholarships to the public sector. Japan is extending funding of approximately FJ$2.6 million under the Human Resource Development Scholarship, also known as the Japan Development Scholarship (JDS) initiative.

This initiative represents the first formal collaboration between Japan and Fiji, aimed at enhancing human resource development through postgraduate studies in Japan. The Ambassador of Japan to Fiji, Mr. Rokuichiro MICHII, will officially announce Japan’s support during an Exchange of Notes Signing ceremony with Mr. Parmesh Chand, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Civil Service. This event will take place at 9:00 AM on October 7, 2024, at the Board Room of Tanoa International Hotel in Votualevu, Nadi.

Following the Exchange of Notes signing, Mr. SUEKANE Kentaro, Deputy Resident Representative of the JICA Fiji Office, will sign the Grant Agreement with Mr. Parmesh Chand.
