Japan is currently leading the way in flight searches to Fiji, according to Tourism Fiji. India is also emerging as a country experiencing an increase in flight inquiries. Meanwhile, Australia and New Zealand remain the primary markets for flight searches to the island nation.

Brent Hill, the CEO of Tourism Fiji, highlighted that core countries frequently utilize their website for online flight searches, which is encouraging. He expressed satisfaction with Japan’s rising interest in Fiji, noting that more Japanese travelers are exploring flight options and activities on the islands.

Hill mentioned that hotel occupancy remains strong, with July anticipated to be another solid month, and forward bookings looking positive as well. He pointed out that Australia, New Zealand, and the United States constitute Fiji’s largest markets. While there has been an expected decrease in traffic from New Zealand due to economic challenges like inflation and high interest rates, overall figures from that country remain stable.

Recent data indicates a slight rise in flight searches from Australia by 1.9 percent and India by 0.6 percent, while searches from New Zealand and Japan have dipped slightly by 1.2 percent and 0.4 percent, respectively.

In terms of accommodation, Fiji reported an average occupancy rate of 86 percent for July, with a forward booking occupancy average of 79 percent for August and 66 percent for October. The leading countries searching for accommodations are Australia at 35 percent, New Zealand at 31 percent, and the United States at 9.6 percent. Additionally, there has been a minor decline in accommodation searches from Canada and New Zealand.
