Japan Boosts Fiji’s Future with Groundbreaking Scholarship Initiative

The Government of Japan is set to officially extend approximately FJ$2.6 million in funding for the Human Resource Development Scholarship, also known as the Japan Development Scholarship (JDS) initiative, to support the Fijian government’s capacity-building vision in the public sector.

This initiative marks the first formal collaboration between Japan and Fiji in enhancing human resource development through postgraduate education in Japan. The Ambassador of Japan to Fiji, Mr. Rokuichiro MICHII, will sign an agreement with Mr. Parmesh Chand, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Civil Service, during an Exchange of Notes Signing ceremony. The event will take place at 9:00 AM on October 7, 2024, at the Board Room of the Tanoa International Hotel in Votualevu, Nadi.

Following the Exchange of Notes, the Grant Agreement will be signed by Mr. SUEKANE Kentaro, Deputy Resident Representative of the JICA Fiji Office, and Mr. Parmesh Chand.
